The blurred effect works as a delicate manner of transcribing dance, movement, poetry. This is the thread followed by Eugenia Grandchamp des Raux in her depictions of festive and colourful moments. In the series of photographs presented by the Galerie Agnès Monplaisir, we are guided to the heart of carnival in Rio as if we were ascending from Purgatory into life and light.
Her images take us on a voyage in space as well as time. Thus, the photographer uses her lens to reveal a contemporary vision of the scenes inscribed by tradition: in rendering them abstract, the photograph allows to reconstitute their original form. These are two types of movement meeting one another.
Her photographs attest to a deep desire to use the immediacy of a fixed and static image to communicate observed motion and the dream perceived at a specific moment.
