Native of Salvador de Bahia, Nadia Taquary’s art is a hymn to the History, religiosity and Bahian culture – and to Africa by extension. The confrontation between a group of tribal sculptures and artworks of Nadia Taquary, reveals an ancestral link. Balangandãs and Figas, that are rooted in Brazilian culture, respond forcelly to tribal art, shedding light on the the identity ties between these works beyond eras and continents.
With this exhibition, the Agnès Monplaisir Gallery offers a singular perspective that breaks the traditional approach of each field for a contemporary interpretation.
